Foster parents come in all shapes and sizes as evidenced at this gathering of caregivers in east Texas. And they choose to foster and/or adopt for a variety of reasons. One in this group shared that the reason he has for foster parenting is that his parents were, at one point themselves, each a foster child. Knowing that all people, especially children and youth, need love, acceptance and protection, hundreds of adults throughout the country step forward to share the love they have as they care for children who are not their own. Oftentimes, foster care results in permanency. The payoff is big when foster children are adopted.
