My Little Girl

My Little Girl
I was just a little girl
A child of fifteen
They said you must forget
Put this aside in time you’ll forget
I carried you for eight months and three weeks
My precious little girl
How can I forget the first time
I held you twenty-seven years ago
When you opened your eyes and smiled
When you grabbed my finger with your tiny little fist
I felt so much love and knew I would miss
Your growing up years but what could I do
A child of fifteen but give you up
So you could have a chance for I was but a child of fifteen
So young and naive I did what I thought was best
Then I gave god the rest then prayed that you’d have the best that life had to offer for I was just a mere child of fifteen
