Adoption Fundraising

If the idea of fundraising causes you to cringe, you’re not alone. Many people quickly bypass the idea of fundraising because it sounds too difficult, they feel awkward asking for money, or they simply don’t know where to begin. You may be surprised to learn that it only takes a few good ideas, planning, and some elbow grease to successfully fundraise to help cover your adoption expenses.

Not only is fundraising a proven method to generate funds, but it can also double as adoption advocacy and education. You may even find that, the better people understand your cause, the more generously they give of their time and resources to help bring your child home.

Some families have successfully sold products such as cookie dough, child identification for kids, or teddy bears with T-shirts that said, "I support adoption!" Some hold events such as garage sales, raffles, and dinners. Other have sent out letters to friends, families members, and businesses directly asking for monetary donations, asked for gifts toward their adoption fund in lieu of gifts for birthdays or holidays, or created websites with a donation button linked to PayPal. Whatever you decide is right for your family, there are many resources available to help you achieve your goals and even some to coach you through the process.
