There were many reasons I placed Little Man for adoption. I wanted him to have all the tools and skills and abilities that he would need for life. But there was one that mattered more to me than the others. And that was a skill I could not teach him: how to be a good dad. And you need a good dad to teach you how to be a good dad.

Dads are a blessing to this earth that nothing can compare to. Little Man needed that blessing, and I was able to find it. An amazing example is being set for Little Man every single day. He is living proof of the love and support that he gets from his dad.

Here is a little thank you list to my baby’s adoptive daddy:

I thank you for

Treating your wife like a queen. She deserves it. And I feel one of the best gifts you can give your children is to show them you love their mother.

I thank you for

Being hilarious and slightly irreverent. Because the world needs a little silly sometimes.

I thank you for

Playing outside with your children, even if it means you break a bone or two.

I thank you for

Teaching Little Man about cars and making him a gear head. I think he understands all that stuff better than I do.

I thank you for

Being willing to sacrifice your sanity for parenthood. Honestly I don’t know how you do it. But you do and you’re doing a great job. Go, Fight, WIN!

I thank you for

Being patient with Little Man. I hear he is stubborn. That couldn’t have come from me. That must be nurture, not nature.

I thank you for

Being someone I look up to.

I thank you for

Being someone that little man looks up to.

I thank you for

All the love you have for your family and how hard you work to provide for them.

I thank you for

Setting the example that you can do anything.

I thank you for

Showing your family the world. Spending quality time enjoying this wonderful planet together as a family.

I thank you for

Being a good person. That means more than you know.

I thank you for

Being an example of strength, especially when it all just seems impossible.

I thank you for

Never giving up on having a family. Even though it probably seemed like it would take forever. Thanks for never giving up.

I thank you for

Being everything I couldn’t give him.

I thank you for

Loving him as much as I do.

I thank you for

Signing up for him and taking the weight of his future on your shoulders.

I thank you for

The peace you give my soul knowing he has you to watch and learn from.

That list could go on and on and on. But words honestly just can’t express my gratitude to that wonderful person who Little Man calls Dad.
