New Jersey is joining a group of states who have passed laws to open the birth records of adoptees. Thanks to new legislations, beginning in January of 2017, birth records will be opened to all adoptees. However, birth parents who do not want to be contacted are invited to complete the necessary form to prevent contact. They have until December 31st of this year to do so.
