Brian Campbell interviews Paige and her adoptive parents at an Adoptee Day Camp. For Paige’s parents, it’s important to give Paige the opportunity to visit with other adoptees, to see children of various races and ethnicity, and to allow her to interact with children who live lives similar to hers.
Children are remarkable in being able to form fast friendships quickly. In a single day at Adoptee Day Camp they can create lasting bonds. For Paige and other adoptees, seeing that they are not alone is comforting. That there are many children with dark skin who have white parents, and other similarities, leads to a feeling of peace and acceptance. Adoptee Day Camp can be a time of finding oneself as well as having great fun!
