Hi. I live in a neighborhood where there are at least a dozen families consisting of same-sex parents and their adopted kids. Why are there no forums on this site that address this? I just want everybody that visits this site to know that these families exist, the homes are loving and nurturing, and the adoptions are legal. Gay and lesbian parents face the same issues as other adoptive parents. I am kind of incredulous at the level of denial about this on this website. I was actually corresponding with one person (by PM) about a problem we both had with an adoption agency, and when I revealed my sexual orientation to him he dropped the correspondence.
We do have a Non-Traditional Families Forum for the post adoption support of GLBT adoptive families, which can be found here: http://forums.adoption.com/forumdisplay.php?f=2836

As an adoptive mom, I just wanted to jump in & show support. I am sorry that some narrow minded person dropped correspondance with you. What a pity!
Yeah, I just found out about your "support" for GLBT families, and your censorship. I'm outta here, and I leave you to your misery and homophobia. David
Sorry that happened to you. But, I disagree that we are in denial here. We know that there are same sex couples with children here. They must post about post adoption issues on a specific forum. I think that is right anyway...
I just wanted to follow up on what Madden'sMom posted...There is that forum for Post Adoption Issues for Non-Traditional families...but in addition to that anyone can post ANYWHERE on the forums. GLBT are not just limited to that one forum...they are simply intergrated with the rest of us for Pre-Adoption issues.

And of course restricted from posting anything that could be construed as activist regarding their families formation.
Well, I'm not going to debate the purpose of the forum any longer.
Jensboys, there is a time and place for 'activism' and a support forum isn't it...we have a forum for activism, we ask that members use that forum for all matters of activism.
