AdoptUSKids and the Ad Council have teamed up to speak out for foster youth. “You don’t have to be perfect to be a perfect parent,” they tell us. “There are thousands of kids in foster care that will take you just as you are.”

When children are taken in to foster care, the first hope and objective is to reunite them with their birth families. Often, though, that is not a reality. When birth parents are not able to properly care for their children, parental rights are terminated and the children are then available to be adopted.

As children get older and become youth, or when they are in foster care with siblings, adoption becomes less of a reality. They are less desirable and many end up aging out of foster care to live on their own. But these youth need families as much as anyone.  When taken in and truly loved, they learn to trust and to love back.
