In 2008 Nancy Susan Bailey was being searched for by authorities, with a Guatemala warrant for her arrest issued. Baily founded “Seeds of Love,” an orphanage and adoption agency in 1996. Latino Fox News reports that Guatemala’s International Commission Against Impunity stated in a report in 2010 that they found over 3,000 irregular, illegal adoptions –- mostly to couples in the United States.

According to ABC, Bailey was apprehended in El Salvador on December 17 and handed over to Guatemalan authorities. Baily is currently being treated for high blood pressure at a Guatemalan hospital.

Baily has been charged with taking Guatemalan children, then offering them to adoptive couples illegally for fees as high as $40,000.
