Jacob was subjected to horrible abuse before he was taken from his home and placed into the Arizona foster care system. Because of his abuse, Jacob suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and other mental issues. It took almost a year for Jacob to get the medical help he needs in order to combat these mental health problems. Sadly, Jacob is not alone. With all the children in the foster care system and not enough case workers, there are long waiting lists for kids to get any help they need.
Thus, Jacob’s Law was born. Designed to shorten wait times, cut through bureaucratic red tape, and offer help for foster parents, Jacob’s Law is being examined and supported by 22 Arizona lawmakers. Other supporters of the law have created a website to help people become familiar with the need and this possible solution.
