FedEx Saves The Day! Baby Flown to Chicago in Blizzard for Liver Transplant.

Brooklyn Faris is the second adopted child in the Faris family. She’s now 2 years old and was born with a rare disease which made operation on her liver unsuccessful. The only thing that could save Brooklyn’s life was a liver transplant. So her parents sent out a plea through COTA – please help raise the $75,000 required to keep insurance and pay for the uncovered medical costs that will help keep Brooklyn alive. Brooklyn’s disease, Alagille Syndrome, an inherited disorder, can affect many organs in the human body. It is mostly considered a liver and heart disease. A liver transplant, in Brooklyn’s situation, will take care of the problem and allow her to go on living a full life.

When Brooklyn’s parents got the news a week ago that a donor liver was available and waiting for her, they were thrilled. But the Tennessee family began to get concerned when a snowstorm halted all flights going into Chicago where the liver was located. They sent out a Facebook plea and a friend responded: FedEx had helped others in the past, they may be able to help now.  And help they did! The family made it to Chicago in time and Brooklyn did well through the 8-hour surgery. She is now on the road to recovery and has some very grateful parents!
