Nonprofit Organization Sends Families to Disney World

A nonprofit in Texas is sending three new adoptive families to Disney World, and it could be you!

The mission of Adventure Is Out There (AIOT) is to encourage family bonding by gifting new adoptive families with a week-long trip to Disney World.

Josh and Carmen Bray of Dallas, Texas, serve as the President and Vice President of AIOT. It’s an experiential program of the Bray Foundation and works to support families and children.

Inspired by other nonprofits that work with kids, the Brays felt a nudge to make an impact in the foster care and adoption community after one of their board members opened up about why she felt there was a need for support in the adoption community.

“We quickly learned that what we thought we knew about foster care and adoption was just scratching the surface,” they said.

The Brays spent time talking with social workers and members of the adoption triad where they learned about trauma and how challenging it can be for children to feel safe, loved, and secure.

“The trauma was something we honestly didn’t know much about because it’s not something openly discussed,” they said. “It truly is heartbreaking to learn about what some of these young minds have faced and the unspeakable things they’ve witnessed.”

Recognizing the emotional and financial challenges many adoptive families face, the Brays decided to fund a vacation to “the happiest place on Earth”: Walt Disney World.

The nonprofit plans to gift three families with four round-trip airfare tickets, daily park tickets, and a six-night stay at a Disney World property hotel in addition to a gift card for each family that may be used toward meals and souvenirs.

The Brays hope the trip allows families to focus on building relationships and memories together without a financial burden. They also hope to eventually offer trips to destinations beyond Disney.

Nominations for the trip are open through November 6, 2018. You can nominate yourself or another first-time adoptive family for this adventure by clicking HERE.
