Ellen Honors Family Who Adopted 6 Siblings

Christopher and Christina Sanders from Cincinnati, Ohio made their family whole when they adopted Coby, 16, Christian, 14, Caleb, 13, Cayley, 12, Carson, 10, and Chloe, 9, on April 27, 2017 in Hamilton County Probate Court. Judge Ralph Winkler hopes their journey encourages other families to become involved in foster care and adoption. The family took a recent trip to Los Angeles and went on a guided tour of the Warner Brothers Studio. The guide drove the group right on to their surprise guest appearance on the Ellen Degeneres Show. Once the family was settled on stage and the initial shock had worn off they were able to tell their story.

“We had an emergency phone call to ask us did we want some kids,” Christopher said, “and we did.” Christina spoke of the commitment they made to the kids they adopted. About her adoptive parents, Cayley said, “It’s amazing. Every word, every good word describes them, and I thank them very much.” The Ellen Show presented the family with a check for $50,000 courtesy of Walmart and a return trip to Ellen’s “12 Days of Giveaways.”

Christopher and Christina felt the desire in their hearts to become foster parents, so they took classes in December of 2014. They took the 4 boys into their home as fosters before learning that the 2 sisters were still out there somewhere. Christina immediately got on the phone and tracked down the two girls. The couple was determined to keep them together. With their 4 biological kids, that makes them the proud parents of 10 kids. There was an adjustment period for all of the kids living as siblings together, but they are all so happy to call each other family.
