Foster Mom Refuses Flu Shot

NY Daily News picked up the story about a Tacoma, Washington woman, Jamie Smith, who has fostered seven children. She may be forced to give up her current foster child, an infant born on Christmas Day.

A new state mandate requires foster children under the age of two and all people living in the fostering household to receive a flu shot. Those who refuse will have their foster children taken away. The research Jamie Smith has done convinced her that the side effects from the mercury in the vaccination could be harmful. Her desire is to protect everyone in her home as much as possible, even if that means having the state take away one of those children she is caring for.

Jamie spoke with the local TV News Station, KOMO, and said of the newest foster child in their care, “He was born on Christmas. He’s our little Christmas baby.” Of the babies the Smiths have fostered, little Bonnie is now four years old and is still in their home. She became their adopted daughter. They also have some older foster kids in the home who Jamie feels would be better off not getting the vaccination. In order to protect everyone in the home, she will not comply with the mandate.

The Inquisitr reports that with a deadline of February 28th to comply with the mandate, Jamie says, “I’m hoping that we can raise enough of a voice that the state will at least give waivers or do something so the children won’t be taken out of their homes.”
