News Video: More Same-sex Couples in Utah Becoming Foster Parents

Utah state law currently prohibits unmarried couples from fostering or adopting children. Yet with the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to legalize same-sex marriage, more and more same-sex couples are applying for foster care and for adoption. Utah’s Department of Child and Family Services has changed its policy and now allows same-sex couples to foster and adopt children.

The Utah Foster Care Foundation is always looking for more good homes for foster children. And now it looks like the gap may be filled as many same-sex couples are stepping forward to fill that need. In the state of Utah it takes about four months to get licensed to become foster parents.
