News Video: Nebraska Needs More Foster Homes for Older Children

NBC Nebraska reports that, although there is a shortage of foster homes across the board, the need for homes for older children is extreme. A second concern is that there are too many children in the state who are aging out of foster care before they can find forever families. In Nebraska, youth age out at 19.

In an effort to recruit foster parents for older children, experts tell us that what we may perceive as anger in a teen may actually be feelings of loss. With proper love, acceptance, and care, these older children who have been bounced around may find the peace and security that they have been looking for most of their lives. Inturn, this will affect their behavior and fostering them can be a win-win situation.
