Ohio Couples Provide Scholarship for Aged-Out Foster Children

With the hope of aiding youth who age out of foster care in Ohio, two generous couples have created a college fund. Canton Rep reports that Frank and Barbara Sullivan and Jennifer and Daryl Deckard have provided a $2.3 million gift to an Ohio university to be used in the form of scholarships.

The scholarships will be available to youth who age out of foster care in Ohio and will provide tuition, living expenses, and an all-important opportunity to be employed through the work study program.

This generous gift will help Ohio’s youth to rise above statistics for aged out foster kids. Throughout the United States, among youth who go through foster care without getting adopted, most are very unlikely to attend college.
