Shawnee County, Kansas Adoptions Double from Last Adoption Day

Ranging in age from two to 14 years old, 22 kids were adopted into 14 families this Adoption Day, reported Aly VanDyke of The Topeka Capital Journal.  Although there were only 14 families adopting, over 100 people were in attendance.  This included extended family and friends as well as some hopeful adoptive parents.  In the state of Kansas, there were more than 50 adoptions finalized last Saturday.

KVC Kansas has been instrumental in facilitating adoptions throughout the state.  The non-profit organization believes that “children can’t wait” and so they provide therapy, education, support, and aftercare services.  KVC reports that the greatest need is for adoptive homes for older children and sibling groups.  Rather than focusing on finding a child that fits the wishes of family, they look to find a loving family that is a good fit for specific children.

KVC welcomes inquiries over phone at 1-888-655-5500.  For those interested in helping, but who are not in a situation to provide foster care or adoptive homes, donations to keep the program running smoothly are welcome!
