Birth Mother Panel: How Did You Connect With Other Birth Parents?

It is typical for birth parents to feel completely alone. No one can really know what another is going through, exactly what their feelings are, because we can’t step into another’s heart and brain. However, these birth mothers share the value of reaching out to others who have gone through placing their children for adoption. Although their experiences will be unique to them, many of the feelings are the same. When birth mothers reach out to each other to mentor and to share feelings, the load becomes lighter and the stress can be relieved. Talking with someone who has had a similar experience helps birth mothers process their own feelings.
