Parents Talk About Helping Your Child Adjust After Adoption

Adjustment for a child coming internationally can be difficult for the child and for the parent! From food, environment, sleep, play, home rules, and more, adjustment is hard. All of life is new to the child in the adoptive home. Because of this, care needs to be taken to help your child adjust gradually. This adjustment can take a toll on the parents as well. Wanting to dish out a lot of love when it might not readily be accepted, figuring out what to feed your child that will be liked and digestible, and helping your child feel safe are all things that may seem insurmountable at first, but through a period of time the adjustment happens and life resumes as normal.
