International Adoptive Parents Discuss Birth Order and Adoption

Does birth order make a difference when adopting? When adopting internationally, often your new child will be older than some you already have at home. Every time you adopt but already have children at home, your current children will be disrupted out of their place. It is important to be prepared for some emotional changes in your family as you bring home your newly adopted child. Generally, those problems are not insurmountable. It would be advantageous to receive help from social workers and others when choosing your adopted child and when helping the family evolve with the new changes.
