Video: John is Adopted into a Great Family and Begins a Search for His Biological Family

There have been over 40,000 adoptions since 1942 when adoptions were legalized in Ireland.  John Kiely is one of those adoptees.

He grew up with his twin sister and loving adoptive parents , “the best in the world,” he says.  John’s parents had two biological children who died within 5 months of each other from cystic fibrosis. His parents knew the only way to have a family would be through adoption.

Although they were low on the list for a set of twins from the agency, they were selected. The Kiely family is inclusive, loving, and a model family. John and Michelle’s parents have always been willing to help their children find their birth parents. However, birth records were unavailable for them. Thus began John’s search. This is his story.
