What Do I Need to Know about the Birth Day in the Hospital?

All the obstacles have been overcome, there have been highs and lows that the adoptive couple survived in preparation for adoption, and now it’s time for birth. Although very exciting, this can also be a bit stressful for adoptive parents if there is not a clear plan for the birth day. There are financial considerations as well as emotional considerations when preparing for birth at the hospital. Where does the adoptive family fit in? Will they be in the birthing room? How active a role with the birth parents take in welcoming the baby into the world? To what degree will the birth parents want privacy? All these things should be discussed well in advance of birth and a plan should be set out, with the birth mother’s wishes at the forefront.
