Walk a Mile — JJ’S Story of Foster Care

Walk a Mile In My Shoes is an important event held in Oklahoma City to bring awareness to children in crisis, and to help spread the word about the need for good foster homes. Although the event took place in 2013, this video serves to remind us that numerous children are still in need.

At the one-mile walk, participants were invited to bring a suitcase to pull or carry during the walk. This was a symbolic act, representing all of the moves that take place in a foster child’s life. At the end of the walk participants were invited to donate the suitcases so foster children in the area would have something other than a trash bag to carry their belongings in.
