Nominated for the Governor’s Outstanding Adoptive Parent Award by a little girl’s birth mother, Dave and Yvonne Truckey were recognized recently for their tender care of their daughter and the continued connection they have with the birth mother. The Truckeys first noticed something was wrong when their daughter was 11 months old and experiencing vomiting episodes. Just a couple of days later they found themselves with her in the children’s hospital. She had cancer. Now their daughter is cancer-free and these good parents have received an award that the girl’s birth mother believes is well-deserved. This is just one instance of a great adoption triad as we celebrate National Adoption Month.
