ADOPTION IN

Burundi
Burundi

Burundi requires that adoptive parents be married and living together for a minimum of 5 years and be at least 30 years in age and a minimum of 15 years older than the child adopted. However, there is no age requirement if adopting a spouse’s child. Adopting parents must be found eligible to adopt by both psychological and medical examinations and through home studies. Couples must be able to provide proof of material resources to support the child. In 2011, one child was adopted from Burundi by citizens of the United States.
