Cate Blanchett and Andrew Upton Adopt

The couple is thrilled to add a daughter to their family.

Absolutely thrilled to be parents again, Cate Blanchett and Andrew Upton welcomed their new adopted daughter, Edith Vivian Patricia Upton, into their family recently. So happy with the addition to their family — which includes brothers Dashiell (13), Roman (10), and Ignatius (6) — the 45-year-old star brought her darling daughter home to Sydney from the United States last week. Cate’s father was born in the United States, thus making it completely legal for Cate Blanchett to adopt in the United States.

Adopting in Australia is pretty difficult, with only 317 adoptions finalizing in the entire country last year. Among the first to congratulate the happy family was Deborra-Lee Furness and Hugh Jackman, who are adoptive parents themselves.
