The Catholic Charities Independent Living Skills Program has stepped in to help provide training and help with necessities for children who age out of the foster care system when they turn 18. Former foster child Sonya Brown entered the foster system at age 6. She lived in several foster homes and was terrified when she turned 18 and was sent out to live on her own. Thanks to the Catholic Charities Independent Living Skills Program, Sonya learned what she needed to in order to not only survive, but to thrive. Young people are blessed by this program and any interested in donating to the program or assisting with teaching skills are invited to contact them at their website.
