It is a proven fact that trauma can cause strong mental challenges. Many children in the foster care system have been traumatized to the point of creating mental, emotional, and behavioral problems. But it is not always irreversible. Children with these types of challenges who are placed in homes with loving, caring parents often are able to turn around their challenges and to live healthy, happy lives. The Therapeutic Foster Care Program in Connecticut is helping train parents to care for children with mental, emotional, and behavioral challenges. Many of these children in the foster care system are adoptable and would welcome a forever family.
