This week, New Mexico’s Children, Youth and Families Department is celebrating families who set aside their personal interests to reach out and help children in need of a home. There are currently about 1,100 foster families who face a variety of difficulties and challenges. Yet these families also feel extremely blessed as the care they give is full of rewards. CYFD is looking for more individuals and couples who wish to become foster parents. The most important criteria is that those hoping to care for foster children have a strong desire to protect and give love to these special children. There are more than 2,200 foster children in New Mexico. To learn more about becoming a foster parent in that state, visit CYFD.org.
