What an incredible journey it has been through the adoption process. My husband and I were and are still incredibly honored and blessed to have Jim Thompson and Mary Waldrop as our first line of defense when it comes to our daughter. At 9 months old the most adorable baby girl came into our lives as a "temporary foster placement." Little did we know there would next be 3 sets of pictures of her sitting on Santa's lap, birthday cakes to be smashed, and Easter eggs to hunt over the next few years. We were thriving in parenthood and were on top of the world with the life God blessed us with. Then there came a heavy storm. The storm when the pain seeps to your core. A decision was made about the possible removal of our daughter who had been living with us for over 2 1/2 years! But there was a trusting friend to recommend Jim Thompson who she quickly described as, "the best adoption attorney I've ever came across in court," "the golden ticket when you need to win a trying case," "the most knowledgable attorney of the law you will meet," and best of all, "there is a strength in him to fight for what is right by child and he will not stop until the work is done." Well, to be honest, what more could we ever want in an attorney as we needed to place the fate of our forever family in somebody else's hands? The day I called Jim Thompson's office Mary Waldrop answered the phone and I knew she could hear the trembling of my voice as I begged to meet with Jim anywhere in his schedule. A few hours later I was sitting in Jim's office, discussing the situation while he mapped out his initial plan of action. Throughout the next year I watched as Jim and Mary continued to amaze us in their works as they fought to keep our daughter with the only parents she had ever known. There were many nights I would kneel by the bedside weeping to God the day before court begging for a way for us not to lose our first and only child. Then, as we would walk into that courtroom with Jim by our side, I knew then and there my prayers came true. Jim never leaves a leaf unturned, a question unanswered, or shows up to battle not prepared. With every Birthday and anniversary of our "gotcha day," Jim Thompson and Mary Waldrop will forever have our blessings as we pray our prayer of thankfulness. Mary is the calm in the storm from the moment she captures first-hand all the emotions on every phone call. We are so grateful for Mary's kindness, wisdom, love, and respect as she made us feel like we were the only clients Jim had (and we all know that is far from the truth)! Jim Thompson is the best of the best. Jim Thompson WILL fight and he will gain every ounce of respect in the courtroom. There is no battle too big for Jim to conquer. We will be forever blessed by his wisdom as he handled the most terrifying storm for parents and turned it into the most beautiful adoption of our daughter. With our highest regard you have our respect and love.
