Thousands of  youth age out of the welfare system every year. Once the child ages out, they are on their own and need to figure out life. Statistics are not in their favor. Many become addicted to drugs, end up in jail, or live off the streets. This news video shares some of the resources available to youth who are preparing to age out of the welfare system. In the state of Florida, there are currently over 14,000 children in the foster care system. There are programs available to help the children beyond providing foster homes. Those interested in helping children and youth should contact their local Department of Youth and Family Services.
