DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY INFO ON CHILDREN BORN AT ST MARY'S HOSP FOR UNWED MOTHERS IN SYRACUSE, NY? THE HOSP IS NO LONGER THERE. I WAS TOLD THAT MANY MOTHERS WHO WERE UNWED OR WE HAVING BI-RACIAL CHILDREN WERE HOUSED THERE AND HAD TO PERFORM VARIOUS CHORES. I HAVE ALSO HEARD THAT THIS PLACE WAS HELLISH.
I WAS BORN THERE 1/3/70. I AM NOT SURE OF MY RACIAL MAKE-UP. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN TOLD THAT I WAS BLACK & ITALIAN. I AM STARTING NOT TO BELIEVE THIS. I AM A VERY FAIR LIGHT SKINNED PERSON OF COLOR. MANY OF MY FRIENDS THINK I AM HISPANIC. THE OLDER I GET I DO SEE MORE SIMILARITES. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT MY MOTHER WAS YOUNG AND SHE TRIED TO KEEP ME FOR 3 MONTHS BUT DUE TO THE MIXED RACE HER PARENTS ( MY GRANDPARENTS) WERE NOT GOING FOR IT AND DECLINED HELP. I AM NOT UPSET W/ MY MOTHER NOR MY GRANDPARENTS. THEY MADE THEIR DECISION FROM IGNORANCE. THEY MISSED OUT ON A LOVELY GRANDDAUGHTER AND GREAT-GRAND CHILDREN ( ITS NOT TO LATE!!!) I HAVE HAD A OKAY LIFE (I'M ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE THAT DOES JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING *** BACKWARDS BUT ONCE I GET IT WATCH OUT) I AM A RISING STAR IN THE MEDICAL FIELD BY THIS I MEAN I AM IN NURSING SCHL TO ADVANCE FROM MY PRESENT LPN STATUS TO RN AND THEN NURSE PRACTIONER. I LOVE WHAT I DO AND AM **** GOOD AT IT. I HAVE THE SAME VOID THAT MANY OF YOU DO. I LOVE MY MOM FOR GIVING BIRTH TO ME AND LOVE MY DAD FOR HIS PART. I'M NOT SURE HE KNOWS ABOUT ME. I AM STILL IN THE SYRACUSE AREA AND WOULD LOVE ANY INFO ON ST MARY'S. MAYBE IF PEOPLE ARE INTERESTED WE COULD START A SUPPORT GROUP AND/OR POSS. WEB SITE BABIES OF ST. MARY'S. PLEASE LET ME KNOW OR EVEN IF YOU THINK YOU'VE HEARD SOMETHING THAT WOULD BE GREAT TO. THANK-YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO READ MY POST........
GOOD LUCK AND LOVE AND HUGS( FOR THE PICK ME UP TIMES) TO ALL...ARENETTE( WHICH IS MY BITH NAME ARENETTE(SP?) WOMACK. ARENETTE IS NOT A POPULAR NAME SO I'M HOPING IT SOUNDS FAMILIAR TO SOMEONE OUT THERE ESP..MY MOMMY.

Non-identifying informationӔ is information from the adoption file about the birth parents. It generally includes ages, marital status, states of birth, education, religion, occupations and a physical description of the birth parents. It should also include the reason for relinquishment and may include information about aunts, uncles and grandparents. It is called non-identifying informationӔ because it does not include any identifying information such as names, addresses or social security numbers. If you are an adoptee and already have your non-identifying information but it is information given to your adoptive parents at the time of your adoption you should re-apply for the non-identifying information. Agencies are giving out much more comprehensive information now that they did in the past.
The Mutual Consent RegistryӔ is a registry where adoptees and birth parents can register the adoption information. If both parties register normally the agency responsible for the registry will notify both parties that consent has been given to contact each other. Adoptees must have been born AND adopted in New York to use this registry.
