Guru,
You state that Va has a CI for anyone adopted after 1994? Can those adoptees actually get identifying info? What about those of us born before that? That doesn't quite seem right to me. I was born in 1961, and have been looking for my bmom for over 20 years. I have Arlington doing a search, but my social worker says she doesn't have any names except my moms, and she was only 14 years old. But, her dad was Navy, and I know her mom went to court with her, so, how can it be that their names aren't anywhere in my file? And, I was born at a military hospital!!
That really doesn't make sense to me. This woman has had my file for over a year, and is getting nowhere, and she won't tell me anything........I mean, she won't give me a name. How is it that so many states are opening records, and others refuse? Don't we, as adoptees deserve some info, especially medical. What can we do? I don't need a mother, a friend would be nice, but I would love some kinda family history, for me & my daughter.
