Hello Crazd,
The best place to start is with Mission of Hope. If they don't have any more information that what you already have, find out if they have a service where you can register to be contacted if your birth family some day comes forward to inquire about you. All the best to you!

My niece and two nephews (all adults now) were adopted from the International Mission of Hope. So was my older daughter, who is now almost 6 years old. You may already know that the International Mission of Hope is no longer doing international adoption work. However, there are still about 35 children and young people living at IMH in Calcutta. Sometime during the last few months, a post appeared on this list from Beth Clark, the daughter of IMH co-founder Cherie Clark; Beth is now an adult and maintains a database of individuals who lived at IMH prior to adoption. The address she gave for registering information is this: IMHindia@yahoo.com I'll bet she would like to hear from you, "crazd"! Good luck to you.

Hi Crazed,
I too was adopted from Calcutta and the Mission of hope. I'm 19 years old. I wasn't there when you were born but i'm glad to know there are more of us out there. Good luck on your search. I so far haven't found much out. Word to the wise, if you are in the the usa, make sure your citizenship date is correct. I'm going through hell now trying to fix mine.

Hello -
I hope you don’t mind me getting in touch directly, I realise this message was from years ago now.
I work with Raw - a TV Production Company based in London and we are making a series about international adoption for BBC2.
Inspired by the 2016 feature film, Lion, the documentary series will follow individuals who were adopted into the UK from South Asian countries (India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan) as they attempt to trace their birth families. Shooting in the UK and South Asia, and incorporating personal and historical archive, the films will journey with the protagonists as they seek to understand where they are from and how their findings might shape them. Given the personal nature of this series, we have an experienced team who are specialists in filming in sensitive circumstances.
As part of our research we are looking to speak to people in the UK that have been adopted from South Asia.
Raw TV is a multi-award winning production company that produces high quality programmes for the BBC, Channel 4 and major international broadcasters. Our documentaries have won EMMYs, BAFTAs, and been shortlisted for an Oscar. Our website - - gives an overview of some of our previous work.
I’m wondering if you are based in the UK? I’d love to chat, if you can spare the time?
Many thanks,
Suzette

I was adopted in 1986 through the international mission of hope. All of my adopted family has passed away now. Just searching the world for answers. Hope you all are well.
Alas, like most of the stories on this thread dating back 16 years ago, I was adopted to the United States (New York State) in 1984 from the International Mission of Hope - Calcutta. It'd be nice to know if I have any relatives (brothers, sisters, first cousins), but I am not really sure where to start and I have low expectations.

Hi, My name is Jyoti
I can see that most of the posts on this thread are severely outdated...
however if anyone does look at this and has any new information to help anyone.
I was also adopted from IMH in Calcutta (now Kolkata) in '89. Any biological family unknown/not listed.
I did recently do a 23 and me ancestry/familial DNA kit, and all it came up with was a guessing, of possible maybe minor percentage of 2nd,3rd,4th,5th cousins of a myrid of types of people. None of them really seem plausible.
If anyone has any information that could in any way help please write back, or respond to email.

Thanks,
Jyoti
