Hi, I was wondering how much you know about Sunnedon House? My father was born there in January 1942 and given into foster care in November 1943? I was wondering if it was normal for babies to be there for nearly two years and whether their mothers would have stayed with them. Is there someone to get this information from?
Thankyou
I don't use this board anymore because of the attitudes of those who run it. You are welcome to contact me directly.
I believe that some who were born there in WW2 stayed there for a while if they were from an area that was being bombed in the blitz. Sometimes adoption, foster placement was held up whilst they waited to see if the father was going to return from the fighting
My brother was baptised at Coggeshall Church when he was 6 months so still there then, I don't know how much longer he stayed after that, he was adopted by his grandparents when he was 2

Hi. I have come across this thread and think it might help me. I have been looking for am Amelia Stanton who lived in Standfield Road Dagenham. In April 1941 she gave birth to a boy while at Sunnedon House. I am still waiting to see if there is any paperwork relating to the adoption from this home. Has anyone else been able to obtain them or has anyone got any connections to this lady or the wider Stanton Family.
