I believe my birth mother's name is something like Linda Lee Thompson. And my given name was something like Tracey Ann Thompson. I was brushing my teeth, only vaguely listening to my mom natter on in the next room, when she said, "Oh, here's the paper with your birth mother's contact information on it..." and read it off to me. Being nearly 40 years out of date, the address and phone number were no good, and I didn't expect to be able to find her. But it seemed that having been given the information, I was honor bound to make an effort. When I saw this site, I thought, "That could be the answer!" So Linda, if you're out there, thank you for your sacrifice, placing my welfare above your personal desires, both in dropping out of school to have a baby rather than an abortion, then in giving me up for adoption so that I would have all the things you didn't feel you could give me. You couldn't have chosen a better family for me: two devoted parents whose children were (and still are) the center of their world, and a wonderful older brother who has always looked after me and whom I idolized as a child.
