My sister is 15 years old, and was adopted from Romania at the age of 2. She has several learning disabilities. As you said other then that she is a perfectly normal little girl.
My mother is the one who went to Romania to adopt my little sister. She went for 4 weeks, hired a translator and stayed in the homes of several different people during her time there. Originaly she did the paper work to adopt 2 girls, but this was only if she found sisters. She did find sisters but paper work on one of the girls had all ready started by another woman.
Fortunatly the other women lives only 40 minutes from us, so Geanina (my sister) and her sister (leana) see each other a couple times a year and enjoy birthday celebrations together.
Truthfuly, i am doing a research paper, for a university course i am taking. The topic was inspired by my sister.
It is The effects of institutionalization on young children.
So far i have found many articles, and papers on the topic but i need to do some of my own data collection and analysis, so i decided to look at what parents of institutionalized children post on message boards about both institutionalized and non-institutionalized children. Well there is alot about the non institutionalized children, so i posted that message to spark conversation about the effects of institutionalization.
I thank you for any help that you can provide simple by letting me know how how your parenting/adoption has been.
