Hi there,
My info: Female born approx. Oct/Nov 1975, 'taken' from birth parents and adopted through Elgin, IL DCFS. That is all I know.
Even if that doesn't match your info, here is what you'll need to do to search:
1. register w/Illinois Adoption Registry... go to www.idph.com and you will need to print out the registry forms and fill them out, sign them, notarize them and mail them in, it is free if you wish to share medical info. If birth children have also registered and wish to have contact you will be put in touch. If they have registered but not want contact you will receive non-ID info.
2. Contact agency that finalized adoptions, if DCFS contact Midwest Adoption Center... you can do an online search and put in Midwest Adoption Center and the first option to come up will be their website. Here you will follow instructions for search forms, print them, fill them out, sign them, notarize them and mail them in. They will locate DCFS records and give you info.
3. Illinois has a 'Confidential Intermediary Service', they work with the courts to have records opened and released to you for a small fee. Only do this if the free options above don't help. You can also look up this website through online search.
thanks,
Christa
