My name is Louisa and I am 19 years old. I was adopted at a very early age, maybe a couple days old even. I am searching for any biological family.
~~My Mother: My mother was 18 at the time of my birth and in her senior year of high school. She was born in March of 1967 and she was adopted as an infant from Canada through the same agency. She is of French, Irish, and Scottish decent. She was described as an attractive young adult with sandy blond hair in the summer months and a blondish brown hair in the winter months. She has small features with beautiful green eyes that often change to a hazel blue color. She is approximately 5 feet tall and of medium build. She had a fair complexion that tans nicely in the summer months. She was described as a friendly, outgoing person who enjoyed sports, especially swimming and soccer. She loved to garden and loved pets. She was a very warm, sensitive young woman who was conscientious about her work and responsibilities. She had a tendency to be a private person. She was seen as intelligent, she went on to complete her high school education and went to college that same year. She was uncertain of her career choice; she had an interest, however, in teaching swimming and in first aid. She was born a full term baby and always enjoyed good health. Her blood type was B negative and she carried the RH negative trait. She sometimes wore glasses. My grandmother (biological) was born in Canada and was 54Ғ. My biological grandfather was born in Scotland and was 5Ғ6Ғ tall. My grandparents were 19 and 21 at the time of my mothers birth. My motherҒs adoptive parents were in their early 50s at the time of my birth. My mother had one brother who was 21 at the time and was also an adopted child. My motherҒs adoptive father was a policeman and he adoptive mother was a secretary.
~~My Father: My father was also 18 at the time of my birth. He was completing his senior year of high school. He is of Irish and Scottish decent. He was described as being a handsome young man with dark brown hair, blue eyes, and a freckled complexion. He was 56Ғ tall. He had a fair complexion that also tanned in the summer months. He has fine features and a slender build. He was described to be a friendly, outgoing young man who is very much involved in sports. He enjoyed soccer, skiing, swimming, golf, and tennis. He had a normal birth history and enjoyed good physical health. He has AB positive blood and RH positive trait. He was the second oldest of three children. He had an older brother in college and a younger sister who was also in high school at the time of my birth. My paternal grandparents were in their late forties at the time of my birth. My paternal grandfather was a school principal and my paternal grandmother was attending college for her law degree.
~~Circumstance at time of placement: I was born on May 16, 1985 at 3:38 AM in Syosset Hospital, Long Island, N.Y. My birth weight was 7lbs and I was 19Ғ long. The birth was described as a normal, spontaneous delivery with no complications. My mother hid her pregnancy from her parents throughout the full nine months and first learned of it the day she went into labor. My mother was an exercise instructor, while instructing a group of students at a nearby pool her water broke. My mother requested for adoption because she felt she could not adequately care for me. Due to both my parents still being in high school, both grandparents were in favor of adoption. My mother wanted to keep me however financially; the lack of her parents, my father, and his parentҒs willingness to help influenced the decision. The adoption process was a difficult one for my mother, she was emotionally upset and throughout the months of June, July, and August she went for counseling.
**My mother was able to write me a letter and the original letter was given to my adoptive parents. However, I have not received this letter and did not have knowledge of this letter until just days ago!
**I have also found out that I have a sister. My birth mother contacted the agency in 1988 and inquired about me and reported that she has come to terms; she was married at that time and has a daughter!!!!
This is the beginning of my search and I dont know what else to do. If you have any advise please e-mail me or post in this thread. I am searching to fill a whole that I feel I have in my life. Is this normal?? I am not looking to replace my adoptive mother, I love her very much and she is and always will be my mother. I feel I just have to know her.
Hopeful but confused,
Louisa

You seem to have a lot of good information.
You should try to do Google searches using every piece of info that you have.
Leave as much of a paper trail as possible.
Post a page at adoption.com. You may be able to look up public records in the county where they live (use the free internet sites if you can).
Your a-parents sound like people that are educated and familiar with computer search sites. If you know the approximate area that they are from, the local newspaper often has a free classified section where you could post a brief search ad.
Maybe this will help.
I hope your search goes well.

A b-dad wanting to reunite with my daughter

Can I do any of this without their names? I have all of this great information but without any names I feel helpless. Unfortunately, my a-parents are not involved in my search. It is a sensitive topic for them, especially my a-mom, so they are not aware of my search... I feel it is better this way.
Thank you so much for your reply and your advice. I feel like no one is reading my posts.

When I saw your post I thought it was a search post..
A post with just the information and no conversation.
Also what happens is that if a post is not current no one reads it.. this place is vast..
There is a search area here..

Louisa,
You'll be surprised at what you'll be able to find out on the internet.
Go into sites like LiveJournal and find people in the geographic and ask some specific questions to people that live near them.
Check online newspaper articles for the area where they live and search the sites for any reference to the info that you have.
There are so many creative ways to find information [legally].
When you finally get a name, things get much easier. You'll be able to find out a great deal.
I have used many different methods to find my b-daughter. I have found dozens of pictures, articles, schools, clubs, sports... about her.
Try not to give out too much information to any person. You want to provide some privacy protection to the people you are looking for. (it can be done)
Find people of the age and geography on different IM and chat groups (AOL, ICQ, Yahoo, MSN...).
Ask some questions, your search has just begun.
Hopefully this helps you and others as well,
-Steve

Steve,
I found out her first name was Karen and his was Kevin. My birth name was supposed to be Kelly-Lynne but I don't have any last names. I have been looking through year books in the neighboring towns of where she worked (Nothport) which I found out through the letter she wrote me... my a-mom gave it to me. :) I am so close but at the same time I'm not. I can't think of anything else that I could do to find her. I tried calling the Northport V.A. where she was a life-guard but they wouldn't give me any information. They said they would look for a Karen that worked there in 1985 and try to contact her but they wouldn't give me her last name. I feel I've hit a dead end and it is frustrating. Any advise on what to do next? Thank you so much for listening.

Wow, you know where she worked as a lifegaurd?!?!
I was a beach lifegaurd for 7 years. There must be someone there who worked with her, and knows everything about you.
Lifegaurds usually sit together all day long and talk about everything. This is something that needs further looking into.
Try to find any county employee records for those lifegaurds. (These are public records!) See if any worked there during that period of time.
You have everything that you need already, you just need a little patience and some investigation work!
You are very close!
I just recently made contact with my birth daughter, or rather MY DAUGHTER!!
Our relationship has started very well, in fact it is amazing!
I can tell you, however, that the a-mom is having a lot of difficulty with it.
Be prepared for some serious emotional turmoil!
My story is (so far) very happy. I hope yours works out as well.
Remember, those county employment files are public record. You may have to pay some copying fees. but you should be able to get everything you need from there.
Good luck, and keep us posted on your search!

Hi Steve,
Thanks for the advice and support. Congratulations on your possitive reunion with your birth daughter!!! That's wonderful! As far as my dearch, well nothing new unfortunately. I have been trying to find out where I could get these records of public employment but i haven't recieved anything from searching on the internet. I don't know how to access these records. Who would I call? Where could I see them? I don't know! I feel like I have hit a wall but I am so close! I found a woman in one of the many year books I have been looking through at libraries. Her name is Karen- same as my birthmom's- and she was on the varsity volleyball team- as my birthmom had said in her letter that she was on the varsity volleyball team. This is the only Karen I have found that was on the volleyball team and graduated in 1985. However, I can not find a way to contact this person. I know it is a long shot but it is still a possibitlity. It is very frustrating not to be able to find a way to contact her. I looked up her last name on whitepages.com and called anyone with the same last name, left a lot of messages but nothing so far. I also called the Northport V.A. Hospital that she had lifeguarded at and where she went into labor with me but they wouldn't tell me anything. They said it is against confidentiality policies, understandable but still frustrating. I was thinking of trying to volunteer there and maybe find some kind of records by snooping around and/or asking around. I don't know if thats such a good idea though. Plus, I don't know when I would be able to do it because I work 48 hours a week, but I'm sure I could squeeze in something. That's what I've been thinking about but other than that I am totally blank! I have exausted every term possible on the internet for my search and am beginning to feel helpless, although it is still very early in the search to feel this way. ::sigh:: What to do next? I don't know. Maybe I should contact my agency again and see if they have any suggestions, although I doubt they would.
Thanks for listening,
Louisa

I haven't been able to contact the reunion committee from the school but I know they are having a reunion Nov. 19th so I have to get on that and contact them. Sorry I haven't replied in a very long time. My father is very sick and my grandfather just passed away. I wish I had your luck! I'm so happy for you and your daughter! How are things going?
