My good friend is Lds and I am curious if a young girl is prengant in her teens and not married do the lds encourage the girl to place the child for adoption or do they let her do what she thinks is right? the reason why I asked is because my friend told me that they enourage you to place for adoption and I just wanted to see if its true or if she got it mixed up.
I am pretty sure that most LDS counselors encourage unwed teens to give the baby a home where it can have a stable home with a mother and father. Of course, it's only encouragement, the mother can make up her own mind.

From what I have seen encouragement by LDS counselors would be considered brainwashing by most peoples standards. Pack your bags your goin on a guilt trip for being a sinner. Your choice is to conform or be an outcast. I think the LDS church is long overdue for a reevaluation of their stand on adoption. The LDS church has a long history of being behind the times when it comes to issues of this nature. As recently as the 1970's people of color were not allowed to be full fledged members, that's just one of many examples of the church leaders unwillingness to evaluate their policies with any regard for the damage they may be doing to peoples lives. There is not any amount of praying that will make god magically take away the pain of relinquishment. Not to mention the emotional issues bestowed upon the victims of their give your illegitimate baby away so you can save your soul propaganda.
Encourage and coerce are only separated by a thin line that is easy to cross.
