We are in Kentucky. We filed I-600A in September 2004 were fingerprinted in Louisville in December 2004 (before Christmas I think) and received the I-797C (form I-171H) "Notice of Action" for favorable determination concerning application for advance processing of orphan petition in February, document is dated the 10th of February 2005. I don't know if being fingerprinted during the holiday season would have slowed ours down or not?
Hope that helps. Good Luck

Our situation was a little unique. (But then again, isn't everyone's  )
I had to go to Alaska for 6 weeks in the middle of our Homestudy for work. (Bummer about the homestudy, but Alaska was awesome!) I left in late June and Hubby sent all our stuff off to the BCIS office for processing in mid-July except for the homestudy as it was not yet completed. I returned to the lower 48 the second week in August and our homestudy was completed and sent off the first week of September. We had our Fingerprinting appointment by the last week of September and our 171-H by the second week of November.
The only reason I can think why ours went so much faster than the previous poster is we did send in all the stuff except for the homestudy so early. So doing that may expidite matters.
Also...I DID NOT KNOW THIS...and it slowed us down!!
Ky requires county certification prior to State Certification on all notarized documents. So make sure you are getting county certification as well as notarization as you process your KY documents. Your agency may have told you that, but as my agency is out of state, they had no idea about this extra step required by our lovely commomwealth...it's not a big deal if you do it as you go along, but it slowed us up by about 2-3 weeks.
Hope this helps!
According to the Kentucky yahoo group and what my agency has told me, Kentucky's BCIS office is taking 60 to 90 days. 70 days seems to be the average right now. The recommendation is that ALL your "i's" are dotted and ALL your "t's" are crossed to avoid any extra delays. For example, if you have anything that is considered an arrest in your record, be sure that you submit a written statement as to what happened...you will need a State Police check and all the dates in the home study are very important. Regarding the Alaska trip, Congradulations!! I was born and raised in the Fairbanks area! Moved to KY with my family about 10 years ago. I tell everyone about Alaska, "great place to visit but wouldn't want to LIVE there!" :p HTHs, KWien
