I called the Childrens Home Society of Missouri today. It was one of those phone calls where your crying, angry, then happy. I was told I could never be told anything about you, but that I could fill out a consent form for you to find me when your 21... if you choose to do so. I was also told that if your birthfather did not want to be found and didn't sign a consent form that they would not give you my information either....just in the event that I may give some of his personal information to you.
Can someone please explain this to me? The woman called me back and did give me some information to keep my heart from breaking entirely. She said the adoptive mother had contacted them in 2002 wanting to have some "unidentifying" information about me to give to my birth daughter. I was so relieved. Just to know she was alive was something. To know she was curious about me, or her birthfather gave me hope. Most of all....to know they told her she was adopted. Can someone please help me? She is going to be 18 on September 29th of this year. I won't go looking for her. I am afraid of making her life more confusing. What can I do to make it really easy for her to find me other than filling out this consent form???
