I am going to adopt from Ethiopia and am very interested in adopting an older child. I am wondering what kind of language issues I should expect? Any advice would be appreciated....Thanks.

Someone who has adopted an older child can give you a better idea, but my understanding is that may school age children know at least a little English as it is the 2nd national language and many are taught some in school. Also I believe all the agencies have teachers who come in to teach the school-age kids English. Some start at the age of 3 teaching the kids in the foster care centers.

Hello there,
I'm also adopting an older child from Ethiopia. A girl between the ages of 4-6 years. Yahoo groups has some email groups for adopting from ethiopia and adopting an older child from ethiopia. I'm on them and find them really great and helpful. Go to yahoogroups.com and type in ehtiopia as a search.
