Hello, my name is Kali Hill and i was born June 1st 1983. The only information i have is what my adopted parents have told me. i love and trust them but Ya never know if circumstances may prove information false. i was told i was born in Louisville, KY at the Louisville Audubon Hospital. i weighed 2 pounds 11 ounces and was 3 months premature. My adopted parents' lawyer's name is Bob O'Reilly and i think he pretty much has decided any sort of search isn't worth his time. At the time of my parents' notification of a child for adoption, the lawyer randomly told my dad that i have an older half sister out there somewhere, but claims to not know any other information. i just recently found out about the half sister information. i would really like to find out ANY information about anything pertaining to my adoption, especially my birth family. Even if something sounds outrageous or barely relative, i'd still like to know. Please help, anyone. i'm even willing to pay money. None of these feelings rest on anyone's shoulders but i just feel very hopeless and desperate. i love my parents and they have always been the best to me. i still feel like i'm not a part of anything or anyone, like i'm completely alone, and have no reason why. i need to find something, anything... Please help...
Kali,
There are a couple of options of going about finding out information.
Option 1:
You can place a request of identifying information through the State of Kentucky. This is usually around $150 - if you are a full time student, they will probabyl waive the fee. This process can take up to 6 months to find out anything. What happens is the State of Kentucky has a week to notify the courts that you want the information in the file to be sent to you. Then, the courts has 6 months to find your birth mother, contact her, and see if any information can be released to you. This is usually the slowest and most anticipating option to go, but just be thankful that it is there. If your b-mom allows the information to be released after they contact her, then it is up to the court which finalized the adoption to decide what is released of your file.
Option #2:
Write to the state of KY and tell them that you want your non-id information to be sent to you. When I recieved mine, it had my birth mother's birthdate in it, and that helped SO MUCH. I had already knew what state she was born in - so if you don't know that yet, try to find out, or it may be on the non-id info. Once you receive the non-id info, I would love to help you from there. I can go to my public library and look on Ancestry.com and find all of the females born on your b-mom's birthdate in the state she was born in, or if we even have to, the whole country. When you are looking for your birthmother, I understand how it is - she could be anybody in the whole world. And if you can narrow that list down to 200 or 300, it's amazing. From there, it gets difficult. But, like I said, once we get your b-mom's birthdate, we can at least narrow it down, and you will have her name on a sheet of paper, but we will have no idea which one she is.
One thing I would reccomend is just going to google, typing in your birthdate in quotations, then putting + "adoption" and see what comes up.

You know, once we get the list narrowed down, even if we have to contact each person on that list, that's better than thinking it could be anybody in the world. : )

I hope you have a great Easter!

Updating all my old threads in case someone is actually looking for me...
Well search angels found my birth mother, Julie Henry. They can't get ahold of her, though and pretty much gave up. Her brother is denying she ever had me. He says that she said there were complications and she lost the baby so he and his wife refused to send any messages to her from the search angels. I also got all my non-identifying info.

Narianna, I am a birthmother. I found my son in 1996. He was 21-1/2 years old when I found him. I hadn't seen him since he was 2 days old. I conducted the search by myself. His records are still sealed to this day in a courthouse in Topeka, KS. The first three years of my search I didn't even know his name...but I found him.
Do you know your Mom's date of birth??? That's very important information. I can probably help to guide you as I have much experience in this field. I'd be happy to help you along...

I wondered why your search sounded familiar. I spoke to Julie Henry and see denied she had a child but maybe it is time to contact heragain.
