Legal Guardianship vs Adoption in Florida

Can someone give me some information regarding what the difference is between Legal Guardianship and Adoption? We are fostering 2 boys - and I am under the impression that if we adopt them, that will will no longer be able to receive support for them....which would make it incredibly difficult financially. Can anyone give me insight into this situation? Thanks :) Val
