My November blog count was 11. And the December blog count was 18.
My pageview number increased by 70% between November and December.
The total count increased from November to December too.
Nov: 435,817
Dec: 610,439
I know past theories about increasing blog counts were: weather (snowed in folks have more free time to read), networking, having your very large family frequently visit your blog, , link your blogs together to help tell a story (so the reader doesn't have to go digging), write about common topics (food and sleep), write 40 blogs a more (consistent volume seems to help.. just see Mary's Ethiopan blog)
Anyone have new theories to add?
Regarding tactics that help numbers.
I actually had a tiny dip in numbers several months ago when I posted at exactly 7 AM each morning. I think every-day posting is a big key, but NOT at the same time each day. Devious, devious, I know, but then people keep refreshing to see if you've updated yet....that's my theory anyway
Another thing-- have I mentioned this?-- is adding links in posts to previous, related posts that you wrote in the past.

PS-- And once again, for the record, I do NOT have my kids click my blog to get me more pageviews! :)

One more idea-- this is just a theory, but i think it may be helpful every few days to provide a 'tease' by mentioning a topic you'lll be covering the next day, or later in the week. That way people will look forward to it, and hopefully click back a time or two to check to see if the topic is up yet.
I have used teasers before... I wonder if that has helped.
TV shows, radio shows use teasers for a reason.
Thanks for the thought..
