OK so I know this is OT but I was just curious if it had started snowing for anyone else yet? They said it wasn't supposed to start until close to noon here (just like the last storm supposedly wasnt to start until like 5pm, but instead started at 10 am!) but I was driving to work at 7am and bam there it is, snow, just light snow but it was enough to have already started dusting the streets. *SIGH* I really hate winter!
Anyone else feel this way? lol
Hey there,
The snow turned into pretty much a nonevent around Enid. But you never know, so we were prepared. We're off to OKC today to brave the roads for our fingerprints for our China adoption!

Good luck on your drive. Snow turned out rather easy to handle here too. In fact we never got round two or three they were calling for in Tulsa.
You have to drive to OKC for your f.prints? Can they not be done locally? We were able to go to the County Sherrifs office and have ours done, but we are adopting thru state, is that the difference?
Hey, thanks for the well wishes. The driving was a piece of cake. The roads were totally dry.
Since we're adopting internationally, we have to get approval through Department of Homeland Security, which has an OKC office, hence the travel for the prints.
Wow, guess there really is lots more paperwork on international adoptions then? I'm so glad the roads were good for your journey. So what if you don't mind me asking is the next step for you guys? And have you decided on a country (forgive me if you already mentioned it and I am having an err duh moment because I forgot)?
Well, with the fingerprinting done, we have to wait on our final form from the Department of Homeland Security. Then we have to get it notarized and certified by the state and authenticated by the U.S. consulate. Then we gather up our last lifestyle photos and send it all in to our agency. The paperwork is involved, and there is a lot, but it was manageable, and we're almost done! Then the agency goes over it and sends it to China, where there currently in a long wait pattern for referral, but we're hoping it will speed up. Eventually, we travel to China for 2 weeks to get our daughter and bring her home. :)

Oh wow, that does sound like lots of paperwork. I would feel like my head was spinning trying to get all that together, lol. That's great you are so close to being done, I bet you woohoo each day you get closer lol. I figured you would have to be in China for months so two weeks sounds quick (in a good way). Congrats on being one step closer, you'll have to keep us (me since we seem to be the only ones on this board anymore lol) posted. I'm so excited for you!
It does seem like everyone else has deserted the board (what little there were.).
Have you started your home study or your DHS classes yet?
Yeah we started and finished both the homestudy and classes in August. The homestudy didn't get approval until October though.
Sounds like you're good to go then! Have you guys attended any adoption parties yet or met with the kids?

We haven't met with any children yet; we will be attending our first "matching" party on the 17th so we are super excited. In fact I find myself constantly saying time isn't moving fast enough lol.
Oh wow! Congratulations. I'll bet it seems like time is dragging. It will be here before you know it, though. You'll have to let us know how it turns out.
