I wanted to take a few minutes and write a short thank you to Nathan Gwilliam, the founder of Adoption.com, for creating such a wonderful resource for adopting parents, birthparents and adoptees. In addition to this note of gratitude, I wanted to also share the story of Adoption.com with our members who may not know how their daily resource of support and inspiration came to be.
Twelve years ago, just back from his Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Nathan started attending classes at Brigham Young Universitys Marriot School of Business. During the course of his studies, Nathan was asked to present a business model for a company as part of his Honors Thesis. His Thesis laid the groundwork for what would later become Adoption.com.
Working in the Computer Lab of the Marriot School for Business at BYU, Nathan set forth creating a fundamental resource for everyone who is touched by adoption. Twelve years later, that vision has become Adoption.com.
Adoption.com, born in the infancy of the Internet, has grown to be the InternetҒs number one resource for parents who are hoping to add to their family through the miracle of adoption, adopted persons seeking their roots by reconnecting with the past, and families facing the difficult decision of placing their child for adoption. In addition to providing free, unrestricted access to all of the resources on the site, such as the Reunion Registry and a collection of adoption focused articles, Nathan is passionate about the work Adoption.com does with the Waiting Childs Photolisting. States and agencies from around the country have turned to Adoption.com to find loving homes for children who may not otherwise find a home.
Without NathanҒs tireless efforts, his vision and know how, Adoption.com would not be the resource youve come to know and love.
IҒve been working with Nathan in one capacity or another for over six years and, even today, I stand in awe of his devotion to Adoption.com and the adoption community as a whole.
I hope youll join me in leaving a short note of gratitude for Nathan Gwilliam Җ for providing this irreplaceable resource for all of us.

Someone already asked via PM - so I will share the response I sent:Nathan grew up exposed to adoption - his father was involved in adoption as an attorney.Nathan did his Mission for the LDS Church in Brazil and was exposed to the plight of orphans with his work there and made it his passion to help those kids once he got home.Nathan does a lot of work with both adoption and with world wide orphan relief - he is truly passionate about children from around the world!
Nathan -
My family cannot thank you enough for a place where we were able to turn to for information, support and guidance not only from people who had already gone through what we were going through, but also those who were going through the process with us at the same time.
Since I joined in 2002, Adoption.com has seen me through 3 adoptions and is continuing to get me through adoption issues and life as a parent.
Thanks again, I appreciate you and all your hard work and dedication. :flowergift:

Wow! An opportunity to send a note to my big boss! I'll take it.Dear Mr. Gwilliam,Thanks so much for creating this wonderful resource ... this community ... and for allowing me to participate. My little corner of the Adoption.com world, and the platform it provides, has given me a focus and an outlet for what has become my mission in life ... working to protect the option of adoption for the world's children.Working for a company that shares this mission, this challenge, is a privilege I sincerely appreciate. In addition to the opportunity, I am also deeply grateful to the support I receive in my work, support that comes from the very top. It is your dedication that sanctions my commitment and fosters my enthusiasm.Sincerely,
Nathan;Without the existence of this community, in its various forms from the forums to the blogs, I would not be as strong as I am AS a birth mother AND mother to my children. I have "met" some great women and men on these forums, from all sides of the triad, and they have strengthened my beliefs. There are still days that I wish I didn't "belong" here but I am glad to have some place to belong.Thank you for providing this avenue of release for me. :)
