H woke up this morning with one side of his lip about 4 times the size of the other. No kidding, he looks like he's had Botox, but only on one side. I am 99.9% sure that it is a mosquito bite---he was covered in repellant last night while we played outside for about an hour w/ the neighbors, but I can't put repellant on his lip! We are supposed to eat lunch w/ bmom and her family today---anyone have any ideas about how to take the swelling down? Also, anyone know of anything that WOULD be safe to put on his face or lips to keep this from happening? He's really sensitive to the bites, and I'm not keeping him inside all summer.

I was going to say ice, also. But, a popsicle is a great idea! I hope it is not a cold sore! I get those and they are miserable. Once you have one, you are stuck for life. For me, they start out as swelling, and then the infection comes. If that is what it is, call your ped. I am sure there is something you can put on it to make the duration shorter.

Thanks, everyone. Great minds apparently think alike, and I had given him a popsicle for breakfast(!!) before I'd posted, but had to come on to work, so I didn't know if it had had any effect. When I saw him at lunch, the lip was MUCH better. I learned at lunch that Bmom also has extreme reactions to mosquitos, so looks like this may be inherited. I did find some good stuff at Wild Oats this weekend---Hyland's makes some stuff called BUG BITE, kind of a chapstick consistency, that worked wonders on the bites on his leg.
